Charitable & Community support
Barristers and staff at Keating Chambers have been enthusiastic supporters of several charity initiatives over recent years.
Annual Support
Chambers fundraises for, or donates to, the following organisations on an annual basis:
- The London Legal Support Trust - an independent charity that raises funds in support of free legal advice agencies in London & the South East. Keating regularly participates in the London Legal Walk and the Great Legal Bake.
- Support Through Court - an organisation dedicated to reducing the disadvantage of people facing the civil or family justice system without a lawyer. Keating makes donations annually to this charity.
- Advocate - the Bar's national pro bono charity. Keating makes donations annually to this charity.
- Christmas Jumper Day - a national fundraiser for Save the Children. Members and staff fundraise by wearing Christmas jumpers and making individual donations.
Law Rocks
Keating Chambers has a long-established relationship with Law Rocks “Battle of the Bands” events, where bands from solicitors’ firms and other clients compete for honour of the “best band” title. Law Rocks’ mission is to promote music education for underprivileged youth and raise funds for local non-profit organisations. Proceeds from their events are split between the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute and a local charity in the host city. Keating Chambers’ band Demolition features Calum Lamont KC (lead vocals), Ben Sareen (bass guitar), Sarah Williams (vocals and keyboard), Tom Coulson (guitar), Tom Walker (guitar) and Oliver Goldsmith (drums).
London Pulse Netball
In 2020 we committed to a three-year partnership deal with London Pulse Netball which supported their community netball programme. This initiative raised funds which allowed Pulse to support athletes who might not otherwise have afforded being part of their academy programme. It also helped provide safe travel from training and games, support on nutrition and wellbeing and guidance on career development.
Other
Chambers also participates in several ad hoc charity sporting events during the year, including football, softball and netball. When the London Marathon was postponed due to Covid, a team from Keating Chambers pulled together to run a combined marathon to raise money for KidsOut and Oxfam. Each team member ran 2.62km and we managed a combined finish time of 3hrs 32m 42secs.
