As a result of the global pandemic and in person events not being possible, Keating Chambers and Pinsent Masons were unable to host what would have been the third Africa Construction Law Conference. To replace this we have organised a joint construction law webinar series. The first set of these webinars are taking place in September and October 2021 and will take a forward looking view at virtual hearings/courts and virtual adjudications in Africa. SESSION 1: VIRTUAL COURTS & HEARINGS IN AFRICA
This webinar took place on Wednesday 22 September. The panel discussed a possible future of virtual courts and virtual hearings in Africa considering both the opportunities and the obstacles. SESSION 2: VIRTUAL ADJUDICATIONS
The panel will discuss the increasing popularity of adjudication as a form of ADR in construction projects in Africa, its adoption by standard form contracts, the prospects for the introduction of regulated adjudication backed by legislation and the challenges to such schemes on the continent.
