Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust & ors v Lendlease Construction (Europe) Ltd & ors
This long-running dispute, involving 15 separate parties, arises out of a multi-million-pound PFI project to build a new specialist emergency care hospital. The hospital, deemed defective, now faces demolition and the claimant NHS Trust is seeking damages over £100m. This technically complex dispute includes subsequent Part 20 claims which the main Defendant contractor (Lendlease) raises against a host of sub-contractors and building professionals. Lendlease is represented by Vincent Moran QC, Richard Coplin, William Webb, Tom Coulson, Harry Smith and Emma Healiss (instructed by CMS). The case is listed in the TCC for 10 weeks between October and December 2022.
ATOS IT Services v The Met Office
This is a procurement challenge launched against The Met Office, the UK Government-backed weather agency, concerning the prestigious contract for a weather and climate change supercomputer which was awarded to Microsoft. Atos IT Services (an unsuccessful bidder) claims that the procurement process was not run properly. Sarah Hannaford QC leads Monkton Chambers’ Ewan West in acting for The Met Office (instructed by Hogan Lovells). The case is listed in the TCC for two weeks in May 2022.
