Arbitrators at Keating Chambers are highly experienced in using the rules of leading arbitral institutions worldwide, including, but not limited to: ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, ICSID, SIAC, DIAC, ADCCAC and SCCA, and are often appointed by those governing bodies, as well as directly by the parties themselves or, as presiders, by agreement of their co-arbitrators. They accept arbitral appointments as sole arbitrator, tribunal member or as chair/presiding arbitrator.
In recognition of their specialist experience, members of Keating Chambers at all levels are frequently appointed as adjudicators, either as named adjudicators in contracts, by agreement of the parties, or through a nominating body. Members appear on a variety of adjudicator panels and nominating bodies’ lists. Adjudications cover all types of construction contracts and PFI related disputes.
Mediators at Keating Chambers mediate a wide range of domestic and international disputes concerning chambers’ core practice areas, as well as all types of commercial disputes involving areas such as property, insolvency, insurance, competition law and share agreements. They also have substantial experience in the co-mediation of large multi-party disputes where they can combine their collective experience, which has proved to be very effective in circumstances where traditional mediation may seem impossible, impractical or expensive due to the amount of time needed to efficiently case-manage the dispute.
Members of Keating Chambers have substantial experience of international and domestic dispute boards including Dispute Adjudication Boards (DABs) and Dispute Resolution Boards (DRBs), both in ad hoc and standing appointments. Senior members of Chambers chair some of the world’s major project dispute boards. Members are also experienced in representing parties in ad hoc dispute board adjudications both domestically and internationally. They have wide experience of the FIDIC standard forms which expressly require dispute boards as part of their dispute resolution procedures.
Members also act as experts in expert determinations and can also provide early neutral evaluation of disputes on an ad hoc basis.
Keating Chambers has a dedicated team of ADR clerks to provide the necessary separation and information barriers when we have both counsel and the independently appointed member engaged in the same dispute.
