Sustainability & Environment
Keating Chambers is proud to be part of the Bar Council Sustainability Network and to be working closely with the Bar Council as a member of the Carbon Reduction Pilot scheme which launched in 2024. As part of this initiative, Keating Chambers is collaborating with the Bar Council, a leading climate consultancy and a select network of other Chambers to share knowledge, solutions and resources, develop carbon reduction targets and work towards the joint goal of net zero across the profession.
Keating Chambers is committed to creating a sustainable global future and has an environmental committee focused on identifying and implementing sustainable choices. By reviewing practices, establishing better waste management and recycling initiatives and evaluating its overall supply chains, Keating Chambers is actively transitioning towards net zero.
In its 2016 modernisation, Chambers focussed on maximising the building's green credentials, moving away from high impact gas supplies and boilers, switching to green electricity as the only power source, the installation of a fully adaptable air con and heating system for improved air quality, the fitting of lighting sensors across all floors and the Chambers-wide fitting of double-glazed units to reduce heat and cooling losses.
As a forerunning chambers, opting into green energy electricity tariffs since October 2021, Keating Chambers employ ethical product purchasing and buy-smart supply chain initiatives whenever possible. Chambers collaborates with external suppliers to ensure that environmental impacts are minimised and that their approaches align with Chambers’ sustainability goals.
Members of Chambers work with clients to offer virtual meetings and conferences wherever appropriate thereby reducing the environmental impact of domestic and international travel. A green ticketing platform has also been introduced to help reduce travel impacts on emissions.
Although in the infancy of its journey, Keating Chambers is working hard to review every part of its business and supply chain to help contribute to a more sustainable world. Keating Chambers is fully committed to the goal of taking measurable steps to set achievable emissions reductions targets and to contribute to a greener future.
